Rimi Sen born on September 21, 1981 in Kolkata, India is an Indian actress working in the Bollywood film industry. Her real name is Shubhomitra Sen. She is also an Odissi dancer and performed in the dance troupe of the eminent Kolkata-based Odissi exponent, Aloka Kanungo. Rimi completed her schooling from Bidya Bharati Girls' High School in the year 1998.
She was first noticed when she auditioned for a Coca-Cola advertisement, impressing Priyadarshan, the director of the ad. Priyadarshan cast her in his hit film Hungama, establishing her in Bollywood. She then played Amitabh Bachchan's and Hema Malini's grand daughter in the hit film Baghban. Her next big hit was the Yashraj Productions Dhoom. Her next releases Phir Hera Pheri, Kyunki and Golmaal have also been successful at the box office.
Rimi is now going by the screen name Rimii. She explains the name change as a career move: there are many other Sens working in Bollywood right now, and a single name may help her stand out from the crowd and stay apart from others.
Her last release was De Taali in 2008. In 2007, she appeared in the critically acclaimed Johnny Gaddaar alongside newcomer actor Neil Nitin Mukesh. She also had a cameo in 2006 film Dhoom 2.
