Bollywood actress Zarina Wahab hails from Andhra Pradesh. The actress who is well versed in English, Hindi and Telugu languages have done numerous critically acclaimed films like Chit Chor, Gopal Krishna. Flmmaker Raj Kapoor was not so much impressed with her personality, when he met her at FTII. So Zarina Wahab since that day decided to work hard to change her entire look and attended film parties and events. The actress as time passed got noticed and was cast in several movies. In 1974 Zarina was seen in Dev Anand directed film Ishq Ishq Ishq along with Zeenat Aman, Kabir Bedi and the talented actress Shabana Azmi.
Zarina Wahab was normally roped in as the middle-class, natural character. The diva had a major hit movie in Basu Chatterjee's Chit Chor which was released in 1976. Zarina also bagged a a Filmfare nomination as Best Actress for the character she portrayed in Gharonda in 1977. She has also contributed in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam movies. In 1977, she also featured in “Agar…If” alongwith Amol Palekar and Kader Khan. Zarina Wahab as stated made a comeback to Malayalam projects with Calendar, which released in 2009. She appeared in Bollywood movie “My Name Is Khan” playing mother to Rizwan Khan played by Shahrukh Khan.
She most targets towards Telugu flicks, and has encouraged her daughter Sana too to begin start her career in South Indian films, the way she had in a Telugu film Gajula Kistayya
Though her daughter Sana tried acting in 2006 many times but couldn’t survive in the stardom world. Zarina Wahab currently plays older roles in television serials. Zarina Wahab met Bollywood filmstar Aditya Pancholi on the sets of Kalan Ka Tika. After which they got married in 1986. Still they are living happily together. Other than this she has also appeared in Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakta Charitra in 2010.
